Children & Teen Religious Education Program

Welcome to the Religious Education Program for children at teens. Our goal at UUFM is to make every child feel welcome and help every family find a faith home.

Our Children's Building is staffed by adults from 10 am to noon every Sunday.   At 10:30 am students and staff join the beginning of the Sunday service including a chalice lighting and Story for All Ages. Classroom activities begin around 10:45 and end at 11:30. Classrooms and playground are staffed until noon so that adults may participate in the social activities that follow the morning service.

Babies and toddlers are cared for in their own area complete with crib, changing table, and rocking chair.  Our nursery is staffed Kelly Reese, a professional educator and trained caregiver. Parents are welcome to use our nursery area and to stay with their child until both are comfortable with separation.  If your child becomes inconsolable in your absence, you will be notified.

Our curricula are gleaned from Unitarian Universalist materials and supplemented from other sources such as UNICEF and Teaching Tolerance.  Each age group follows lesson plans created by teachers from the free online UUA resource, Tapestry of Faith.

Each Sunday includes stories, crafts, food, and fun. Age appropriate activities help children make friends, make wise choices, and strive to live with truth and integrity.

In addition to Sunday morning classes, UUFM teens meet to design their own activities which include social action, arts and crafts, field trips, and socializing.

The UUFM Children's Religious Education Ministry Team meets monthly and everyone is welcome to attend.  In addition to providing guidance and support to CRE teachers and staff, the Ministry Team sponsors intergenerational events throughout the year. Special events for all ages include the Halloween Party, Chili Cook-Off, and Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

Ours is a cooperative program with a staff of volunteer teachers and helpers led by our professional religious educator, Kathleen Murphy.  Families and friends are always welcome to visit our program. For more information contact Kathleen Murphy
