Community Social Action: What's Next


Community Social Action: Ongoing

Recycling
UUFM: bins for plastic beverage, paper, aluminum beverage, steel cans, and glass are located behind the maintenance shed; for $35 you can help sponsor a 1/2 month of pick-up cost ... and includes a reserved UUFM parking slot!
Eyeglasses: we have a collection basket for old eyeglasses, which are then donated to the local area Lions Club for distribution to third world communities
Metro Mobile Recycling: plastic beverage, paper, aluminum beverage, steel cans, glass, styrofoam, clothing, used oil, antifreeze and filters

Hunger
The Hunger Site: click daily to help fund the distribution of staple food
Free Rice Site: give grains of rice as you challenge your vocabulary skills
Solar Cooker Project: $30 provides protection and empowerment to women in Darfur 

Literacy
The Literacy Site: click daily to help fund free books for children

Children
The Child Health Site: click daily to help fund medicines and treatment
World Vision Site: give a life-changing gift

Breast Cancer
The Breast Cancer Site: click daily to help fund free mammograms for women in need

Rainforest
The Rainforest Site: click daily to help fund the purchase/protection of rainforest land

Animal Rescue
The Animal Rescue Site: click daily to help fund food for abandoned animals

Oppression
Standing on the Side of Love: a public advocacy campaign that seeks to harness love’s power to stop oppression. It is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Association and all are welcomed to join.

 

In the Works

Recipe Book
The UUFM has collected recipes from our members, including our own Chef Michael Ivey. These are being formatted now.

Interfaith Hospitality Network
The UUFM is working towards joining the Interfaith Hospitality Network by joining forces with All Saints Episcopal Church. Details will be posted when plans are firmed up.
